Workshop: How to avoid premature scaling

This is the workshop I often share with early-stage Founders when visiting accelerators like Techstars, Dogpatch etc… It is based on Steve Blanks book and an earlier workshop my former colleague Jens Lapinski gave to one of my cohorts.

The workshop gives Founders (and early-stage investors) a common framework to understand where they are on the startup journey and how this plays into running and funding your startup. I usually follow this workshop with a real case study and and Q&A. Thanks to Dogpatch Labs for recording and sharing this session. I hope you enjoy it. It’s the workshop I wish I had seen when first starting out and something I use on an almost daily basis when assessing my own startup and helping other Founders avoid premature scaling.

Premature scaling is probably the biggest killer of early-stage startups. Ignore the competition, focus on what the right next steps are for your business, and you will increase your chances of long-term success. Sadly there are very few shortcuts when building something great. I hope this helps.
